Mission Statement
To balance the health, public safety and welfare needs of people and animals in Blount County, Tennessee by responsibly and humanely enforcing animal-related laws; providing medical care, nourishment and a safe environment for unwanted, stray, abused and impounded animals; educating the public about responsible companion animal ownership; investigating cases where animal care is questionable and finding new loving homes for homeless animals.
Smoky Mountain Animal Care Foundation would place great emphasis on community involvement in solving the animal control and pet overpopulation problem for the county. SMACF would actively seek out the assistance of volunteers from the general public, service organizations and established animal rescue groups in the community to give of their time to foster animals, assist with animal adoptions, and promote responsible pet ownership through public education.
We are committed to the construction of a modern Animal Care Center in Blount County to be used to house animals, ensure proper medical care, perform spay and neuter procedures and act as a classroom to educate the general public about proper animal care.
One of the long term goals of the Smoky Mountain Animal Care Foundation would be to create a Humane Region in east Tennessee by working together to form a network of animal welfare agencies with our neighboring counties. In so doing, animals in our region would benefit from the combined effort of many agencies and individuals working on their behalf.
